Blow Hair Bar – A New Era

40-year-old Donovan Foti has recently claimed ownership of Blow Hair Bar, a funky neighbourhood salon that provides a one-on-one personal experience in a retro, laid back environment, in the heart of Glenashley.  “The Location is very important in choosing to buy any business, and this one was just right. Blow Hair Bar has changed its name and ownership a few times, but has been in operation for about 10 years,” he said.

Hailing from Durban North – with an Italian background – Foti gained much of his hairdressing experience from his male family members, stemming back to his great grandfather and started cutting hair at the age of 13.

After he completed his schooling, Foti went on to work in the police force, then studied for a general management degree before heading back into hairdressing to obtain his colour technician status and cutting technician status by the age of 32.

In 2014, Foti was awarded Wella Master Colourist and was the official hairstylist for the Vodacom Durban July fashion shows in the same year.

Foti says that what he loves most about the beauty industry is making others feel good about how they look.

For him, the hairdressing industry is one of the most interesting industry’s to be in. “It is always exiting to be at the cutting edge of fashion. The most challenging thing for me, I have to say, is the lack of ethical values of some people within this industry however,” he says.

When Foti is not working, you will find him fishing, gyming or enjoying the great outdoors.

For a top class hair dressing experience make you booking at Blow Hair Bar situated at shop 8, Glenore Centre in Glenashley, Durban on 031 572 6858.
