Durban will be one of the first to experience the phenomenal 4DX movie theatres in Africa.
Nu Metro has newly signed a memorandum of understanding with CJ 4DX, a motion picture technology owned and developed by South Koren company,a part of the CJ group.
This awesome high-tech technology uses vibration, lightning, motion, water and scent to provide movie freaks with a literally out of this world experience. The usual 2D and 3D have nothing on 4DX as it provides movies with real-life stimulation of viewer’s senses.
Movie heads won’t have to wait long for 4DX theatres to arrive in South Africa as it will be at The Pavilion in Durban and at The V&A Waterfront in Cape Town before the end of this year.
So the way that 4DX actually works is that the cinema chairs provide movement, like a plan crashing or a car speeding down a hill. In addition to the seat movements, the 4DX theatres has what they call “environmental effects”.
Wind, bubbles, lightning, fog, scent, vibration, water shots as well as air shots are used during the movie to stimulate explosions, storms or the smell of coffee if an actor is drinking some in the movie.
I’m sure that hard-core movie lovers will enjoy these features and if they’re Durbanites they’ll be one of the first to experience the awesome 4DX cinemas in Africa.
