Over R3bn invested along the coast of Durban – “The Sleeping Giant”

At a jovial event held at The Oyster Box Hotel today, The Pearls of uMhlanga released their fifth and final phase; “Pearl Sky”.

Speakers at the event included MEC for Economic Development & Tourism in KwaZulu-Natal, Michael Mabuyakhulu, as well as Anant Singh –  filmmaker, producer & Director of The Pearls of uMhlanga Development. who has experienced luxury residential developments around the world.  He has also said that he sees uMhlanga as the Malibu of Durban or even the South of France and he believes that Pearls of uMhlanga will be an icon for the city of Durban.  After the completion of the final phase, The Pearls of Umhlanga will be worth in excess of R3 billion, making it one of the largest private sector investments in the region over the last ten years.

How The Pearls of uMhlanga will look on completion

The always charismatic MEC Michael Mabuyakhulu was positive, saying that he and the department have long seen Durban as the “sleeping giant” of KZN and that Durban “needs this upmarket accommodation, housing and shopping to compliment tourism investment on the uMhlanga beachfront”.  He also stated that seeing that many homeowners in such developments were occasional visitors and holiday makers, that it is an important part of tourism.

The MEC stated “…To me… Durban is in fact the most beautiful city in the world….”, adding thatFor us, uMhlanga and the Northern suburbs of Durban clearly hold a lot of dear prospects for growth…”

The development has seen great success, with the first four phases of the 5Ha property selling out completely, “and the fifth phase already seen over 3 000 enquiries, from the “gentle” marketing aproach. All indications show that this will be a sellout success” says DevMark Director Piaras Moriarty, the sales and marketing consultant for the project.

Pearl Sky is due for completion in 2017, and will boast 14 500 square meters of luxury boutique retail space – boasting top designer labels, the finest restaurants, and Food Lovers Market’s most sophisticated store yet, as well as 322 studio, one, two, three & four bed-roomed upmarket residential apartments.

Pearl Sky promises the exclusive lifestyle synonymous with the Pearls of uMhlanga, including sun decks, a lap pool, jacuzzi and children’s play areas.

Of the 322 units available, Moriarty stated that they already have around 150 purchase commitments – so the launch on the 4th of April will surely be a scramble for viewing and buying a piece of this Iconic development.

The launch is by invitation only – so contact The Pearls on 087 195 0145 or visit www.thepearls.co.za for more info
