RepubliK, one of Durban’s gourmet burger restaurants, is hosting their first wine and burger pairing evening on Tuesday, 10 February. It may be a first for RepubliK, but I also think this concept is new for avid wine tasters and burger eaters. Regardless of how new it may be; it sounds like a delicious evening to indulge in!
Not sure what to expect? Well, RepubliK dished out the breakdown…
1. Fairview Extrano, paired with – A Karoo lamb burger topped with olive tapenade, humus and baba ganoush on the side. Served with a side of zucchini spaghetti.
2. La Capra Malbec, paired with – A Free range beef burger topped with guacamole, roasted red peppers, jalapeños and sour cream on the side. Served with a side of nachos.
3. Fairview Shiraz, paired with – A thyme infused kudu burger topped with sticky red wine and balsamic onions, roasted garlic and a carrot purée. Served with a side of sweet potato crisps.
4. La Capra Pinot Gris, paired with – A grilled chicken burger topped with basil pesto, cuppa ham and shaved Parmesan. Served with a side of zucchini spaghetti and fresh chopped chillies on the side.
Doing things their way, Republik are determined to make sure Durban is positioned on the foodie map in South Africa and hope to make wine pairing fun, exciting and bit more approachable to all.
