Guinness World Record Broken By IBV International Vaults & the IBV Supercar Club!
A Parade of 211 Super Cars, Sports Cars & luxury vehicles as well as motorcycles graced the streets and highways of the beautiful city of Durban on Sunday, all in support of the IBV Supercar Club Charity Parade.
With roaring engines, 200 underprivileged and orphaned children were delighted and chauffeured from the Pavillion Hotel in Durban, on a scenic drive and a day of fun.
The official results of this charity parade were Tallied by Mr Mark McKinley of Guinness World Records, as well as Ernst & Young –A little over R700,000.00 had been raised towards the various charities by the time the parade commenced at 10 o’clock, and they closed the count at 12 o’clock.
At the end of the parade at the Wavehouse in Gateway Theatre Of Shopping, the crowd of VIP’s & Press were addressed and thanked by various dignitaries and role players from UNICEF, Sunflower Fund, Child Welfare & IBV Children’s VIP Day Fund. We were also graced by the presence of the First Lady Thobeka Madiba Zuma, who also heads the Tobeka Madiba-Zuma Foundation for healthcare and women empowerment.
In addition to the parade a charity auction took place, raising a further R130,000.00 toward the various charities, which didn’t count towards the record attempt.
All in all, the event was a huge success, with the final announcement being made just before 15:00. They had done it!!! IBV Supercar Club had won the Guinness World Record for the most money being raised for charity by a car parade!
On the back of the amazing success of this event, Ashok Sewnarain IBV CEO & the man behind this incredibly well supported event stated that IBV plans to take the event global, with the next Supercar Club Charity Parade taking place in Cape Town.
